Types of Sentences

 Types of Sentences

There are four types of the sentences.

1. Declarative/ Statement:

For example, 

He plays cricket.

In this sentence, 'He' is the subject, 'plays' is the verb and the word 'cricket' is the object. So the structure of the above sentence is S+V+O.

In short, the declarative sentence begins with 'subject'.

2. Imperative sentences:

For example, 

Open the door.

In the above sentence, the word ' Open' is verb and the remaining part 'the door' is the object.

So, the imperative sentences begins with ' Verb'.

3. Interrogative sentences:

There are two types of interrogative sentences.

1. Yes/ No type

2. Wh- type

For example, 

1. Do you play cricket?

This sentence begins with 'auxillary/ helping/

and ends with a question mark.

2. What do you play?

This sentence begins with wh-word....(What, who, when, which, where, how, etc.)

Structure: Wh-word + Aux +S + MV +?

4. Exclamatory Sentences:

For example,

How beautiful it is!

This sentence begins with 'What/how' and ends with exclamatory mark.
